Explanation

Due to  my partner getting kicked out of school i was not able to complete the full music video on my own. I managed to get more than half of the footage filmed by myself and now that i have not got a partner to work with i will be working in a three with two other boys Connor and jack. Connor and jack have nearly finished their music video and i am now helping them with it as well. I will be helping with re shooting and editing and i will be adding some of my own ideas that could make the music video better. I will also be uploading all the shots i have done to show you how much i could do while i was by myself. Now i have just been editing with my new group and i don't think i will have anything to do with the old one again.

Production log week 9

Production Log Week 9

This week my group and I have finished the final edit of our music video production. We had to go through the whole music video to check if there were any gaps in the music video. Then after we checked the rough part was all up to date we started adding in effects to make the music video lively and interesting to watch. We also added transitions to make the music video flow. These parts were very important to include in our music video as it looks much better with all the effects and transitions in it. Our teacher then went through the music video to check if it was good enough to export and it was good enough. We also had to record another performance part of the music video as our partner is ill and hasn't been in the week and he is the one with the memory card that we recorded with. But now we have fully finished our music video and have exported it. Now we have to check that all of our blog posts are up to date because they are about to get marked. I don't I  really have anything to do next week as I have finished the music video and have also finished the blog posts and everything else. If we did have anything to do last week I think it would have something to do with uploading the music video to YouTube but other than that i am not sure what we will be doing next week.

This week my group and i have finished the rough edit of our music video which is due for next week. We have been making sure that our music video has been cutting to the beat throughout the whole music video when editing. We have also added a wide range of jump cuts to make it interesting for the audience and we also filmed two extra parts which performance was coming from the two actors. We filmed the two characters in different locations so we have a range of locations to include in our music video. We had to include these things in our music video otherwise the video would of not looked that good and this also helps us achieve a higher grade if we are doing things to make it better. Next week we should have finished our music video and started checking our blog posts to ensure there is nothing missing. My group might have to record the performance part again as one of the members from the group are really ill and he was the one holding the memory card after we've recorded that part so if he is not in next week me and another group member will go out to film some performance which will take place outside sitting on a bench as we felt that it links with the music video.

This week i have joined a new group with two boys Connor and jack I had to join their group because my partner has been kicked out of school. I have been helping my new partners edit and i have also found some clips from my music video that would perfectly fit into theirs which saves us time when filming. Next week I need to re shoot with my partners because some shots in the music video were quite dark and you were not able to see properly. We are also going to add some performance shots into the music video so it makes it interesting to watch as the music video felt slow when watching it. All of this fits in with the music video because it is all making our music video look much better to watch. It also allows the viewers to engage with the music video as there is a clear story line to it. I have filmed on the weekend and while i was filming i have included better shots so it was clear and you could get a clear picture. We also added the performance part in which makes our music video better. We filmed in the park and in a public shopping center to make the music video look pleasing when the viewers watch it.

This week i will carry on filming since i have not yet completed all my shots on my own. I will probably be filming on the weekend on both days and most of these shots will be in the same location from where I was filming before the people that will be helping me are Connor Monique Kori and jack and they will be actors in my music video. Since I haven't got a partner I will be changing things up so some stuff won’t be the same as my shooting script. I have lost a few actors as well because of time reasons but I did come up with some backup actors. The filming is relevant to my work because if i do not finish filming then I will not be able to produce a finished music video which will result in me failing. Next week i will have just about finished my music video and have gone back to editing the music video. If my partner has to leave school I will be put into a group with new people preferably a group that has not done that much because that way i will be able to involve myself more in the group and hopefully it will get me a higher mark.

Production Log Week 5

This week I have been struggling to record because my partner has not showing up. Apart from that that I have still tried to get as many shots as I could. I have filmed some shots with Michael and I have captured a few good shots. I filmed at the location where it is set outside on the street due to the fact that some actors were not able to film that day but i managed to find a way around it. I have also been editing the parts I have recorded it is hard to edit without all of your shots because there is not a starting point you just have to put the shots anywhere and it does not match up. I have also been struggling with the editing because it is not really one of my strong points in media and i also do not have a partner and it is a shame because my partner could edit to an acceptable standard. If my partner still stays in school he will be able to finish editing and i will just carry on with the filming part and hopefully i should finish that soon. Next week i will carry on gathering more shots to complete the music video. I was thinking of getting more shots with Michael because some of the parts that he was lip syncing were off so it would be good idea to go over them again.

This week I have finished all of the planning assets to the final production. I have completed the location reeccie Which was too pick out all of the hazards of where i was going to be filming and i also had to think of a way to prevent these hazards. I also created a production log this allows me to see what days to film and it lets me stick to a specific date to make sure i do not fall behind. I have finished all 3 of my risk assessment forms and this is where I had to think about the risks in the locations I was using. All of these things are relevant to my music video because without it I would not be able to even start filming. Next week I will fully start filming my music video with my partner. I will be filming all the party shots because that was the hardest part and i just want to get it out the way so we have the simple parts at the end. I am going to film the party shots in the basement as it looks like a party scene in there and it depends on the way you use the camera to give it that party effect. The party parts are quite simple to film and it is not that long some I don't think it will be that hard to film.

I will be directing because I am good at taking charge of things and i know how i want this music video to be. I also think i am good at directing as i would get everyone to listen to my instructions without failing

Editor- Jamie Bovell

He will be editing because he is very good at it. I think he has more experience with editing than i do. He can use his skills to make out music video look very good and this should please the viewers

Production Manager- Kesean Lewis

I will be the production manager because im reliable and i have pretty much done everything to do do with production by myself. Im very good with organisation and timing skills. Jamie would not be a production manager because he never comes in so sure to that that could mess everything up

Location Reccies

Location Reccies

The first place I would like to explain why in recording is in my house. I am using this location because it would be suitable for the genre i am using and it is quite simple and effective place to use. The location i am using is also reasonable for the other actors to attend to. The second location i will be filming in is outside on the street  as it links with the first location making realistic for the viewers when watching the music video. It is also an easy place to film on as i can just finish all the house scenes then just move on to outside on the street. The third location i am using will be in a house or basement due to the opportunities. I think this will be effective because it will really elaborate the party setting and this will make it interesting for the viewers.

I think the third location is the best because it will be  a lot more interesting than the other two locations as that is where the action takes place. I think I will find some good shots to include while I'm filming at the third location. The 1st location will be more interesting than the 2nd because we can see a story line building up in that scene.I think the 2nd location wont be as amusing as the 1st and 3rd because the shots are just going to be the main character walking down the road and performing so I don't think that part will be that interesting

This week i have finished my shooting script which has about 110 shots although this may seem like small amount of shots I have mixed the shots so some of them are 4 seconds long and some of them will last two seconds long I thought this would be good because it balances the length out and it will not be short. I have also been handing out slips with people confirmation that they would be in my music video I have handed out 10 out of 25 slips I just need to sort that out before Tuesday to ensure I am on track. This is relevant to my music video because it allows me to know who exactly is going to be in the music video which helps me sorting everything out. What I need to start moving on to next is getting permission for using locations that I would like to use. I think this would be quite simple to do as I will be filming at one of my family’s house. If any problems do occur I have a backup location where I don't need any permission to be filming in so I have that sorted out. This week I will also print out a copy of the lyrics and give it to the actor as he would need to know what the lyrics are so he can go over them and practice.

Week Two

This week I have continued developing y production log. I have made a difference to the amount that I have done. I now have completed about 120 shots which I've thought very carefully about. I have colour coded the shots so I know which days I will be recording on.. Next week my partner and I will probably just about finish all of our shots and have gone through them. After all of that we should have clear idea of what is going to be happening on the music video when we shoot it. I have also been trying to secure our locations to prevent problems in the future when we will be shooting. Everyone who I had in mind to participate in this music video has said yes so I have got that out the way. I also need to start looking for the clothing for the main characters to wear for the music video. I will not be paying or these items but I will recommend that the characters do have some clothing along the lines.

Production log Week1

Weekly Productionlog

What I have done so far is getting everyone's approval for being in my music video I have also made them aware what their job role will be in this music video. This does not really fit into my production schedule as it was not on there but it is a start to the making of my music video I don't think there was any problems as everyone I asked has said yes the only thing that could really go wrong is that half of the people drop out but apart from that there is not any major problems that I could identify. If this problem occurs i will just simply recruit other people for the role. My plans for the following week are to make my action script so we have a clear and descriptive idea of what’s going on. I have now started on my shooting script and i have done about 50 shots out of approximately 150 shots although  i am quite far away it is still helping me sort out what i need to do. In the future this is going to help the cast and I know what everyone and i are going to have to do. I have also colour coded my shooting script to show what days i will be recording on which will make this very easy to follow.

Extra Details About Presentation

I have some information about the storyline of the music video. There is a boy and a girl that are currently together and the guy is a player  and he goes form women to women cheating on his wife but to make sure that the music video would be appropriate I have decided to add a twist instead of the man achieving his goals at the end of the music video which is going home with the girl instead am going to have the three girls that he cheated with gang up on him and at the end the three girls go home happy with each other and the man gets left behind obviously in a bad mood but then another twist will occur and you will see the man getting a phone call from another girl he smiles at his phone and then walks off into the distance. I have decided to change the location to a better place because I was just going to film it on Chadwell Heath lane but i thought to make it more interesting I would film it on the streets of central London as it would pleasing for the audience to watch and its busy which would make my music video much better.

Strengths Of Presentation

I think the audience thought my strengths were the artist’s persona as it exemplifies how my actor is going to be seen as it also shows the type of genre my music video will be. I also think that my storyline was a good base to work from as it would be entertaining to watch I have now built other ideas from this base to make it much better. My ethnicity was mostly black and I thought this would be effective because most people who listen to hip hop music are black and this is why the audience thought this was a suitable decision. My music video was also clear which made it easy to understand as the music video was narrative music video this makes it interesting for the audience when watching it as allows them to follow upcoming events with in the music video. I also used a range of different shot types to make the music video appealing to the audience as they would not just be looking at one type of shot all the time.

Improvements Of Presentation

The audience thought I could have expanded on my storyline as it was very simple. I used their questions to expand on my storyline and come up with a new and better one. The audience also thought that I should have been careful with the voyeurism aspect with in my music video as I had to be sensible on how far to go with the voyeurism I have took this feedback and have adjusted some parts in my music video to make sure it is appropriate to watch as it is in control of the school and I can only take it to a certain extent. I also think that I could have chosen better locations as they were quite simple. I was planning to do part of the filming on chadwell heath lane but instead I am going to change it to an exciting place to make sure the audience do not get bored so I was planning to film it in London or somewhere with the same energy to keep my audience interested.

 Changes You Will Make To Music Video

I will be changing the storyline of the music video as I thought it was sexist in a way. So now instead of the girl going home with the man at the end of the night I will have her throw a drink in his face and storm off alongside with another women he has been seeing. At the end I the man will get a phone call from another woman and walk off smiling. I have also changed the locations as they were quite simple and not very interesting. I will be making these changes because I thought some of the ideas would not be appropriate for the viewers of the school and i also thought that it would be better and more interesting for the audience watch.

The target audience for this song is for people who like hip hop and party sounding music mixed together as you can hear from the beat of the song. The age boundary for this song would be about 16+ as i think that this song could be explicit for any ages under 16.

Section 2 - Analysing Lyrics

The  lyrics with in this song are quite explicit and due to the fact that is is a hip hop based song the audience would expect it to be this way. When you read the lyrics you will notice that the artist who is singing this song is talking about girls in quite a rude manner and this expected from this genre as girls seem to be a object rather than a human being. Some people may find this song rude and some may just find it normal because they are accustomed to hearing these songs by now.

Section - 3 Analysing music

The music makes the audience feel relaxed and cool  as hip hop songs do. It has a nice flow to it which will keep the audience interested this is just a song to relax to as it does not really have an illustrating meaning. I think the artists views on women are quite negative as he talks about them in a dirty manner so i think i would need to watch the way i portray the actor when making some of the shots

Section - 4 Analysing the tempo

I would say the tempo is at a medium pace this allows who ever is watching it to feel relaxed when watching the music video. The song is to fast and not to slow which makes it flow when listening to it. I would need to add a large number of cuts to make it match with the tempo as it is quite fast and i think it would go nicely with the song.

Section - 5 How would you visually communicate this in a video

As the artist is talking about a girl in this song I may have to include something to do with a girl but I would need to make sure that it is safe to watch. The setting I would place this in is in a club/house party or even outside I would have the actors wearing hip hop clothes and the colour scheme would probably be whit/red/blue and black because those are the colours you associate with hip hop music. I think I would include flashing lights if the setting was in the club to give it that sense of realness so it would look appealing to the audience.

I have chose these pieces of clothing because they are quite flashy and look like hip hop clothes. I have chosen mostly black clothing because that is what we see mostly in hip hop videos I have also included a red and blue jacket because that is what we associate with hip hop music there are also chains to show that this is hop hop music as well.

I chose these because these are hip hop based fonts. The one where you can see the mans head is what most hip hop artists do with in their own typography and I have chosen all of these types of typography because this is what you would normally see as they are meant to look quite cool and flashy.
